‘Whatever you’re meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible.’

Doris Lessing

 About me

My life has been fraught with challenges.

I’ve experienced multiple profound losses and traumas whilst raising my children as a single (and latterly lone) parent with ADHD, C-PTSD and chronic illness. I know first-hand how it feels to live, work and create in conditions that feel impossible which is why this quote from Doris Lessing has always resonated with me.

Whilst dealing with life’s constant curveballs, I have built several successful projects including The Writing Workshop and I have published a range of books (including my grief memoir, Dear Blacksmith, my Writing Revolution handbooks and the Write to be Heard book for Mums In Need). I’ve also worked as a consultant for national agencies such as The Reading Agency, National Literacy Trust and Book Trust and have worked as a trainer and facilitator for librarians, literature professionals, writers and educators. For many years I ran my own successful business facilitating writing workshops and children’s writing clubs whilst also coaching writers and other creatives.

I frequently host events and retreats, have been a guest on many radio programmes and am an accomplished public speaker and spoken word artist.

I’m passionate about living creatively and authentically and am always exploring ways to live a colourful, joyful and meaningful life despite life’s challenges and whilst living with depleted energy.

Having taken a sabbatical in 2025 to recover from trauma and burnout, I’m now streamling the services that I offer and I’d love to work with you!
